Har Ki dun - The Stairway to heaven
Har Ki Dun Trek
In winter, Har Ki Dun turns a snow Paradise. Away from all the hustle, surrounded by snow capped mountains lays this beauty. The trees turned white, the rocks turned white, the river that accompanies us throughout the 27 km trail also turned white. Standing tall at 6,250 Metre to the east is the Swargarohini peak, the stairway to heaven as per Hindu mythology. According to Mahabharata, It was the swargarohini peak that the Pandavas tried to climb to reach heaven in human form, an attempt only the elder brother Yudhisthira was successful.
The trek to Har Ki Dun takes us back to a different era, showcasing the peaceful village life to us. Along the path, we come across several ancient villages. The lifestyle, culture, and ease of living of the people here offers us a unique lesson. Away from all modern infrastructure and technology, people of these villages enjoy the life as it comes, season by season.
